WACS News is the multimedia class at Alden High School. The class creates news stories and content for the Alden community. In my three years of being in this class, I have truly fallen in love with multimedia. This class gave me the opportunity to be creative and make people happy. I started off as a reporter and by my second year I was the executive producer of one of the classes. My third and final year of the class I was the Creative Director. This class and all the people in it have helped me become the editor and creator I am today. Please enjoy some of my favorite content.

Seniors Say Goodbye to Alden

On Tuesday, Oct. 19, the varsity cross country team held their senior night. Seniors Tyler Hartz, Lexie Hillman, Justin Kruk, Grace Sheehan, Mark Stoldt, Rayahna Tryka, Kyle Urban and Kailey Wasch ran their home course for the last time in a tri-meet against Tonawanda and Eden. The boys’ win resulted in a division title for the 12th straight year. The girls fell short of the win to Eden but still took third in their division. Coach Edward Carll, Coach Jaime Wallace and team members dedicated some kind words to the seniors and presented them with gifts.

Dilly On the Street+John

The idea of this video all started when I saw a clip of “Billy on the Street” on TikTok. I thought it was so funny and I wanted to do something like it. Around the time that I saw this clip, the Bills had just made it to the AFC Championship game, and we needed to find a way to promote that. So we came up with “Dilly on the Street: Bills Mafia Hunt.” The thing that I am most proud of about that video is how fast I was able to put it together. In total it only took me about 90 minutes to plan, record, and edit. For as fast as I did it, I am proud of it!

Alden Students and Staff Sing "Last Christmas"

I feel this is one of the funniest and well-edited videos I have ever produced. The making of this video did present some challenges. I recorded the whole video and found out during the editing process that it didn’t have audio. So, I had to start back at square one. In the long run I am happy that happened. It taught me to always check my audio before filming. After the video was produced, everyone loved it and really enjoyed it going into the holidays.

Try Not to Laugh

Now, this may not be a WACS News video but, I am still very proud of it. It had some of my smoothest editing and I feel it is very funny. It was a fun process to edit and create. It took me about a day to film and edit.

The Office (WACS News Intro 20-21)

This was just a quick fun video my class and I made to have as an intro for ourselves.

Alden's Still Standing

I made this video the first week we came back to school after the nationwide quarantine. I wanted to provide a sense of unity. Even though we have been gone for so long we were okay and we were "still standing." I wanted the video to also be upbeat and uplifting while still explaining some of the new rules.

Putting a Face Behind the Name: Rick Penny

WACS News wanted to shine a light on Rick Penny and his coverage of Alden school and community events. We interviewed Mr. Penny as well as some students and staff he’s impacted with his work. I was apart of a group that decided to put a spotlight on Rick Penny and his work. I edited this video and also was the camera guy.
